Long and Short call…
As am always saying some of these terms that we
were taught in lower primary do not make sense. Seriously! Queen Elizabeth
since we learnt your English. For example “please teacher may I go for a short
call...” and what was fascinating, we were taught that there was short and long
call, yet only expected to use the short call sentence while seeking permission
to visit the toilet.
Okay. Am not blaming the queen, our
teachers can also take some blame but on the other hand they were also taught
the same, so we blame the queen and her teachers.
I think the wisdom of short and
long call comes from the assumption that when one
goes to 'pee' they do not take a lot of time emptying the bladder. But I beg to differ there are
times when you are so pressed by that short call, you are forced to take few minutes before the
muscles relax and the tap opens.
As compared to the long call where, when pressed everything is just ready to come out you just sit on the toilet seat or
squat on your pit latrine and viola! the bowel opens. Or maybe maybe it is a running stomach which in this case things come out faster than a short call.
I will be right back!
am going for a call…
