Media People I Do Not Know What to Think…



There is something I cannot understand with our media people, you guys have power of influence but instead you choose cell tape yourselves and your cameras and head to the streets. I did not understand that message!

You guys are an embarrassment to yourselves. Why do I say so, you people set the agenda for this country, you dictate what we read and watch. During the last general elections you guys preached so much peace until when we were going to vote I think, we were actually electing peace and not individuals.

You then took the ICC theme and that is what we have been hearing and reading about until we are so fed up.  You deliberately or conveniently chose to ignore the victims who are still crying for justice. And since you dictate how we think, you decided the post-election violence victims were not important, and you went ahead to rally your support to just the two important gentlemen in the country who apparently are the only ones being unjustly treated by the rest of the world. And now you guys are crying foul, make up your minds!

During the NO and Yes campaign you guys destroyed Ruto when he at one point was aired praising the then proposed draft constitution as very good only to change his mind later, you reminded him and us what he had said.

Just recently you went after the rogue preachers who used to get shots on the side and other things. You even went after the defense personnel who decided to borrow water from Nakumatt after such a hectic time. A daring thing to do, but you did it.

You guys have been an instrument of information for Kenyans although sometimes we do not like what you transmit, we forgive you because we are very forgiving and we have very short memories. For example off late you have just been broadcasting bad news, and we are left wondering isn’t there anything good happening in Kenya? 

What I do not understand is, your bosses went for lunch at statehouse it is alleged they enjoyed the lunch so much and forgot to raise pertinent issues.  And yet you guys keep giving these political leaders and their melodramatic campaigns so much publicity at the expense of other important nice things happening in the country. Now since they have stubbed you in the back what are you going to do?

My question still lingers do you not realize the power you have? Having said all that, what I found amusing was, while some of you were, cell taping yourselves and their cameras. You still followed the President to Meru and you still went ahead to broadcast his insults towards you. You guys are so faithful! But you can do better than going to the streets. By the way did going to the street help?...

Media people leave the streets to its owners and stick to what you do best. Fight from your backyard…

I still cannot understand what the hullabaloo is all about with the condom advert. My view, that advert makes a lot of sense. The makers of the advert are realistic and admitting that married people are having illicit sex or enjoying the forbidden fruits outside of their matrimonial homes. What I construed from the advert is that the woman is not having her nocturnal exercises at home and hence her need to keep a side dish to provide  those essential services. Am sure there are many valid reasons in homes that are driving couples to leave their matrimonial beds. That, I think is what the church leaders should be addressing, not the sheath they choose for protection. We need to know why respectable men/women feel the need to quench their thirst away from home. Luo is a Romantic Language…

In my short or long stay on this earth I have had the privilege of interacting with many of the languages spoken in Kenya and one dialect I would say has stood out and I have come to love is the Luo dialect. The dialect according to me is very romantic; it should actually be classified among the others of the world which are regarded as romantic. The way their words flow, as they speak, one has no option but to enjoy listening. This is a language, firstly the words rhyme so well with English language; secondly a word can be used in so many instances until one gets confused. Take for example the now common words ‘ Gini Wesikawo ” when these words were spoken by supporters of one team who were shouting to the supporters of the opposing team, even before a football match was over that they have taken the trophy the same words have now evolved or transformed until they are featuring in adverts as a way of bidding us goodbye. Masaku sevens ….I hear it was a show to behold….

I have really been thinking a lot about what I hear happened during Masaku 7’s. And mind you though being in Machakos on that day I got home early before all the free live movies started. So I just heard just like some of you. No wonder people say free things are not good. In one way or the other let us be glad it happened now in broad day light the last time Masaku sevens was in Machakos the young people were discreet they did their mating in the darkness where their parents could not see them and the consequences of what happened at night were visible the following morning with the littering of their implements of trade.
