Nurses, Doctors and everyone who works in the Hospitals…. Yours is the Calling…

Every morning as I go to work, I pass at least 3 main hospitals and I always remember to ask God to bless the nurses and the doctors and all the people who work in the hospital for the good work they do for us and sometimes you see nurses boarding Matatus (public transport) after their night duties looking very exhausted and that really challenges me. I also remember to thank God even for the medical students who are also in training. That job is a divine calling from God. Not everyone can operate on someone, that is, cutting someone then going inside to find what is wrong. Not everybody can stand the sight of blood or the sight of a wound. Which you guys have to dress every morning until the wound heals, I hear some wounds are so bad that worms bubble from them yet you guys are okay dressing those wounds. Not everybody can work in the laboratory where you test all manner of nasty things that come from our insides. Not everybody can be a cleaner in the hospital. Not everybo

Daughter-In-Law Stand Your Ground…

Today I feel like encouraging the daughter in laws. I understand these days they are called daughter in love but I think that is just a gimmick of trying to make it sound softer than the way it is. Am just wondering if the daughter in love statement could apply to the citizen TV program called mother-in-law. I would rather the status quo remains that way we all know where we stand with each other. Let us not sugar coat pepper it does not work and will not work. I mean in the first place daughter in law you are coming into a family and taking a mama’s boy and you want to force him to be responsible, the mama will definitely resist it, it’s nothing personal but come to think of it is personal and war gets declared, the day you were are brought home as a prospective candidate. And although she will not say it openly her statements behind your back speaks volume so do not allow yourself to be deceived with the daughter in love statements at the back of your mind remember you hav

Masaku sevens ….I hear it was a show to behold….

I have really been thinking a lot about what I hear happened during Masaku 7’s. And mind you though being in Machakos on that day I got home early before all the free live movies started. So I just heard just like some of you. No wonder people say free things are not good. In one way or the other let us be glad it happened now in broad day light the last time Masaku sevens was in Machakos the young people were discreet they did their mating in the darkness where their parents could not see them and the consequences of what happened at night were visible the following morning with the littering of their implements of trade. But this time around I guess all bets were off and behold they threw caution in the air and hence the reason for the daytime movies.                                                                                                  Parents, let us all agree we have all abdicated our duties of communal parenting that is why the children decided to show us, th

Donate The Organs Where You Are Going You Will Not Need Them….

Christians want to go to heaven but nobody wants to die yet that is the only way to heaven, if you are not lucky enough to be airlifted there like Elijah. Although with God anything is possible since he did not say only Elijah could get a lift to heaven. It is okay to keep an open mind and have faith. If it could happen to Elijah who was flesh and blood the same could happen to you and since it happened once it could happen again. Just have faith… I have been thinking since human beings do not want to think of being dead and buried they want to live forever, a better way to ensure you are in the world for ever and ensuring you will never be buried, is going the science way. Science has come up with a way of ensuring that the world makes provision for you to be useful even when the soul has left the body. The Christian bible says “no matter how long you live, remember that you will be dead much longer” Eccl 11:8. Am sure by one you can deduce I am a good African with al

CORD! How much will the dialogue conference cost me?....

CORD, am all for dialogue and talks about all that is happening and am just as concerned as you are, but on the other hand I have my own reservations regarding how much it will cost me, am afraid and my fears are genuine I may not afford to cater for your expensive tastes. Am overtaxed, I get depressed when I see how much tax I pay and I do not see where the money goes. If you are really honest about the dialogue the venue does not matter. Why don’t you agree to have that old friendly discussions with the government and get to raise your pertinent issues there, the president is very generous with cups of tea at state house and since I have already paid for those ones I recommend you take that. I know there is a sense of importance that comes with hiring a powerful executive hall, and the car door being held for you as you alight from your fuel guzzlers, sitting at a big rectangular table while some of you doze off during the proceedings, only to later hold joint press

Men! Not everything belongs to you…Seriously!

It has to been assumed that women are possessive but I think possessiveness has many aspects. I think men have been socialized to believe all the good or convenient things belong to them and when girls or women happen to enjoy using an item they feel belongs to them; they always tend to remind someone that the said item is not unisex. Men, just because you grew up using something or seeing other men using some specific items that does not mean they belong exclusively to men and when women use the same items you feel the need to remind us that they belongs to you. When men see a woman with a wallet they mostly likely will remind you that a wallet belongs to them and even make such a fuss about it. And if by good luck they are not able to say it they fidget and keep staring at the holder of the wallet, their body language always betrays them, because they look like they are about to choke on the unsaid words.   Does it mean just because men are the ones who often use the wallet

My Mum…

When I was growing up I knew my mum was a genius she knew everything, when you misbehaved she knew about it even before you got home and considering there were no mobile phones the flow of information was amazing. Mention any English word she knew the definition. All the subjects we were learning in school she could tutor us in the evening the only difference being hers was with a lot of fighting in the evening. How could she know so much and she was not the teacher and she never came to class when the teacher was teaching us, was a real wonder. Mum used to make us write compositions but her marking were like personal vendettas because she was very mean with marks. She taught me pronunciation of many words, but there is one word she told me how it is pronounced and I have never forgotten. Every time I pronounce the word or hear it pronounced it reminds me of her and I go wow! Mum told me how that word is pronounced. I still wonder why that word stood out among all the other voc
